Iran and Indonesia have each secured a padel medal at the 2026 Aichi-Nagoya Asian Games. The quarter-finals played on October 1 saw two Iranian pairs qualify in the men’s draw and two Indonesian pairs in the women’s draw. Medals are guaranteed, but the semi-finals will determine which medals they win and who wins them.
Indonesia’s women win two decisive matches
Kusuma and Sabatini dominated Japan’s Ozawa and Sato, 6-0, 6-1. In the other quarter-final won by Indonesia, Putria and Gumulya beat Hong Kong’s Chan and Law, 6-1, 6-2.
With two pairs in the semi-finals, Indonesia is now certain to reach the women’s podium. The medal colour is still to be determined.
Two Iranian pairs in the men’s semi-finals
Golestan and Roghani eliminated Japan’s Ando and Nakamura in two sets, 6-4, 7-5. Shahi and Jasmshidi also qualified, beating Tomita and Hatakeyama, 6-1, 7-6.
Iran therefore has two representatives among the four pairs still in contention in the men’s event and, like Indonesia, is guaranteed a medal. The semi-final results are not included in the International Padel Federation’s report.
Semi-finals scheduled for October 2
The semi-finals are scheduled for Friday, October 2, from 1 p.m. local time at the Nagoya City Higashi Sports Center. According to the draw announced by the FIP, the Iranian and Indonesian pairs are set to face opponents from Qatar, Malaysia, Japan and the Philippines.
Qualifying two pairs from the same country in an event guarantees that country a place on the podium, without determining the semi-final results or the identity of the finalists. The titles have therefore not yet been decided.
