Three leading pairs secured their places in the quarter-finals of the Germany P2 in Düsseldorf on October 8. Juan Lebrón and Leo Augsburger had to come back from a set down against Íñigo Jofre and Juanlu Esbrí. Arturo Coello and Agustín Tapia, meanwhile, won in straight sets. In the women’s draw, Ari Sánchez and Andrea Ustero also turned their match around after losing the first set.
Lebrón–Augsburger come back against Jofre–Esbrí
After losing the first set 3–6, Juan Lebrón and Leo Augsburger took control of their match against Íñigo Jofre and Juanlu Esbrí. They won the next two sets by the same score, 6–3, 6–3, to qualify for the quarter-finals.
Mundo Deportivo’s report notes that the pair were also a break down early in the second set. This three-set win extends their run in the tournament, but on its own does not establish an advantage or disadvantage for the next round.
According to Padel Magazine, Juan Tello and Martín Arce were listed as their quarter-final opponents. The available reports do not establish the result or schedule of that next match.
Coello–Tapia win in straight sets
Arturo Coello and Agustín Tapia beat José Diestro and Marc Sintes 6–2, 6–3. They qualified in two sets; Mundo Deportivo reports that the match lasted 56 minutes.
The two matches followed different paths to the quarter-finals: a quick win for Coello–Tapia and a comeback for Lebrón–Augsburger. The scores alone, however, are not enough to predict the outcome of the next round.
Sánchez–Ustero advance after losing the first set
In the women’s draw, Ari Sánchez and Andrea Ustero qualified by beating Raquel Eugenio and Jimena Velasco 4–6, 6–3, 6–1. They, too, had to come back after losing the opening set.
These three results are from round-of-16 matches played in Düsseldorf on October 8. They are not a complete account of the round of 16 or a full list of the pairs that qualified for the quarter-finals.
