The men’s draw at the Germany Premier Padel P2 in Düsseldorf produced two notable results: Juan Tello and Maxi Arce eliminated Momo González and Lucas Campagnolo, while Paquito Navarro and Martín Di Nenno qualified against Aimar Goñi and Edu Alonso.
Tello and Arce make a successful start
In their first outing as a pair, Tello and Arce got the better of eighth seeds González and Campagnolo, winning 7–5, 7–6. Winning the tie-break allowed them to close out the match in two sets and continue their run in the tournament.
The victory is an encouraging start for the new partnership, particularly because it came against a seeded pair. It remains a single result, however: on its own, it is not enough to conclude that the duo is already established or will succeed over the long term.
The result was all the more notable because González and Campagnolo were coming off a semi-final in Rotterdam. At that tournament, they had notably eliminated Navarro and Di Nenno in the quarter-finals, according to Padel Magazine.
Navarro and Di Nenno advance in two sets
Paquito Navarro and Martín Di Nenno, the fifth seeds in Düsseldorf, also cleared their first hurdle. They beat Aimar Goñi and Edu Alonso 6–4, 6–4.
The win allows them to continue in the draw, but it is not yet a sporting response to their elimination in Rotterdam: this time, the two players were facing a different pair. Their result and that of Tello–Arce make for an eventful start to the tournament, without prejudging what comes next.
Two results, not yet a definitive picture
Tello and Arce’s victory is the more notable result of the two matches, with the elimination of the eighth seeds and the first appearance of their partnership. For Navarro and Di Nenno, qualifying in two sets gives them the chance to continue their run in Düsseldorf.
At this stage, the available information does not confirm their next opponents or the schedule for their upcoming matches. We will have to wait for the rest of the draw to see whether these early wins herald a long campaign or remain isolated results.
