The main draw at the Germany P2 begins on 6 October at CASTELLO Düsseldorf. The draw, reported the previous day by Mundo Deportivo, points to several potentially significant quarter-finals, but none of these matchups is guaranteed: they depend on the results of the earlier rounds. Defending champions Federico Chingotto–Alejandro Galán and Delfina Brea–Gemma Triay are among those affected.
Chingotto–Galán’s possible route
In the men’s draw, Chingotto–Galán are set to start against the winners of the match between Garrido–De Pascual and García–Ruiz. If they clear that first hurdle and then win their round-of-16 match, they could meet Nieto–Yanguas in the quarter-finals. This remains a possible path through the draw, not a confirmed match.
The other half of the defending champions’ draw includes Coello–Tapia. They are scheduled to begin against Diestro–Sintes or a pair coming through qualifying. Guerrero–Leal could then stand in their way in the quarter-finals, provided both pairs reach that stage and win their previous matches.
The two other projected men’s quarter-finals are González–Campagnolo against Lebrón–Augsburger, and Stupaczuk–Sanz against Navarro–Di Nenno. Again, the draw indicates possible routes, not confirmed fixtures.
Brea–Triay face a new pairing
In the women’s draw, the top eight pairs go straight into the round of 16. Brea–Triay are set to face Montes–Barrera or a qualifying pair. A quarter-final against Jensen–Cánovas is possible if both teams win their matches.
This is a new pairing for the tournament: Claudia Jensen is playing with Noa Cánovas in the absence of Tamara Icardo. The reason for Icardo’s absence is not specified in the information available. The other possible women’s quarter-finals are Salazar–Osoro against Sánchez–Ustero, Fernández–Calvo against Ortega–Araújo, and Guinart–Alonso against Josemaría–González.
Goenaga–Caldera withdraw in Düsseldorf
One change to the women’s draw is confirmed: Carmen Goenaga is not taking part in the Germany P2, which also means her partner Bea Caldera has withdrawn. According to PadelSpain, Goenaga retired in Rotterdam because of physical problems, then underwent examinations and took a break to recover. No diagnosis or return date has been announced.
The tournament begins on 6 October, but the information available here concerns the draw and withdrawals; it does not establish any early results. The possible routes outlined will therefore need to be reassessed as the matches are played.
