Álvaro Montiel and Dani Santigosa won their first match at the CUPRA Rotterdam Premier Padel P2. On September 30, they beat Edu Alonso and Aimar Goñi 7-6, 6-3. The victory puts them through to a clash with defending champions Arturo Coello and Agustín Tapia, scheduled for the following day.
Montiel and Santigosa advance from the first round
The pair won the first set in a tiebreak, then closed out the match 6-3 in the second. According to the International Padel Federation, the win puts them through to the next round of the main draw in Rotterdam, the Netherlands.
The match against Coello and Tapia is scheduled for October 1. At the time of publication, the match is still to be played: no result has been reported.
A next match against the defending champions
Coello and Tapia are the defending champions in Rotterdam. They are set to be Montiel and Santigosa’s next opponents, subject to the announced schedule. The Federation’s report does not specify Montiel and Santigosa’s ranking or seeded status.
Another pair also won its first match on September 30: Tino Libaak and Gonza Alfonso beat Alonso Rodriguez and Flavio Abbate 6-3, 7-5.
The Rotterdam P2 main draw began on September 30. Montiel and Santigosa’s next match is therefore scheduled for the following day, against Coello and Tapia.
