Juan Lebrón and Alejandro Galán could reunite as a pair for Spain at the 2026 FIP World Cup. National team coach Juanjo Gutiérrez considers it “very likely,” according to a video published after the squad announcement. But as of September 26, their pairing on court has not been confirmed.
What we know about Spain’s squad
The Spanish Padel Federation announced its eight-player men’s squad for the World Cup on September 24. Both Lebrón and Galán are included. The competition will take place in Doha, Qatar, from November 2 to 7, 2026.
Their presence in the same team is therefore confirmed. However, that alone does not mean they will play together: a national squad includes several players and does not automatically determine the pairs that will take the court.
Why Gutiérrez says a pairing is likely
In the video published after the announcement, Gutiérrez answers “yes” when asked whether the two players could play together again for Spain. He then describes this option as “very likely” and explains his reasoning by pointing to the priority given to the national team.
The coach adds that he has not yet spoken directly with the two players about a possible pairing. His statement therefore signals an intention or a strong possibility, not a decision made with the players.
A pairing at the World Cup, not necessarily a regular reunion
The question concerns the team tournament, not a resumption of their regular professional partnership. Even if Lebrón and Galán are paired at the World Cup, that would not mean they are reuniting as a duo on the circuit.
For supporters, the next thing to watch is the pairings announced for the matches. For now, the most accurate answer is: yes, the coach considers a pairing very likely, but it has not yet been confirmed.
